The Society’s President for 2017-2018 is Martin Valentine

Martin Valentine was born and bred in Rugby.  After Lawrence Sheriff School 1968-75, he studied Art and then trained to teach English and Drama  becoming an Art teacher, firstly on the South coast near Christchurch, then at a girls’ grammar school in Buckinghamshire for some years before moving to Millfield School in Somerset where, in addition to Art, he was in charge of clay-pigeon shooting, the debating society and croquet, while assisting the senior House Master.  His last move was to Sedbergh in Yorkshire as Head of Art and a House Master, as well as coaching Rugby, etc.  Whilst always working away, Martin maintained strong links with Rugby and came back to live here a few years ago having built a Painting Studio at his family home.  He now paints full-time, working mainly to commission.  He is very keen to foster stronger links between alumni of Lawrence Sheriff School.  He would like to encourage anybody who has been involved in the School to work together for the greater good.
